Liz's Monthly Prayer

What a mighty God we serve! We stretch out our hands to you as humbly as we know how, asking you to place us on a path that leads to your righteousness, your justice, your peace, and your love.  People are worried, anxious, and saddened.  Please allow the Holy Spirit to comfort.  Leaders have turned away from all that is good and right.  Help us to be courageous in our quest to reorder this upside-down world.  We need you to shine brightly in dark places.  With your help we will shine also.  Keeping hope and sharing love we lift this prayer in the name of Jesus.  Amen.

The following devotion comes from reading the story of Elijah, who, after being threatened with death by Jezebel, goes and sits beneath a juniper

tree where he becomes so depressed that he prays for death. (1 Kings 19:1-18)

Liz's Monthly Prayer

Let’s Pray together!

Creator of all, we come with humble spirits and open hearts giving you

thanks for all you are in our lives.  We need a word from you.

What words can convey all we feel?  Please hear us Lord!

Storms brewing everywhere are trying to sweep us up in the tempest.

Strengthen our faith in your promise.

With your help, we will steady the ground shaken by false leaders.

We ask that you continue to be with us.

Please, be patient with us and love us fiercely.

We need to speak your words -- Give us wisdom.  The world must see your light in what we do.

We know the winds and waves obey your will!  We need you to calm the threatening storms.  But as they rage on, we accept your invitation to come into the protection of your loving embrace.

It is in your name that we pray Amen.
